About these terms#

XCStrings Translator is operated by Pixby Media AB, a Swedish-registered company. "Services" refers to the XCStrings Translator macOS application, this website, and any related products or features we offer. "You" means the person using the Services. By downloading, installing, or using the Services you agree to these terms. We may update them from time to time; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

License#

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use XCStrings Translator on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with these terms and the Apple Media Services Terms. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code from the app except where permitted by law.

Subscriptions and payments#

Paid subscriptions and one-time purchases are sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple handles all billing, renewals, receipts, and refunds. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period through your Apple ID account settings.

All transactions are final. If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact Apple Support directly — we cannot issue refunds for purchases made through the App Store.

Prices, plans, and included features may change. Where required, changes to recurring charges will be communicated in advance through the App Store or in-app.

Your data and files#

XCStrings Translator works directly with the .xcstrings files on your Mac. Those files are the source of truth and remain on your device. We do not store your string catalogs, translations, or project configuration on our servers.

You retain all ownership of your content. We claim no intellectual property rights in the strings, translations, comments, or projects you process with the app.

Translation services#

To translate strings, the app sends the source strings, target languages, comments, app description, and any custom prompt you provide to third-party AI services we use to power translations. Those services process the data on their own infrastructure under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control how they handle that data and are not responsible for their availability, output quality, or policies. The third-party services we use may change without notice.

You are responsible for the content you submit for translation. AI output can be incorrect, biased, or inappropriate — review translations before shipping them in production. Do not submit strings you are not comfortable sharing with a third-party AI service.

Acceptable use#

You agree not to use the Services to violate any law, infringe on anyone's rights, transmit malware, attempt to disrupt the Services, or process content you do not have the right to process. Accounts and licenses must be operated by humans; automated or bulk abusive use is prohibited.

Availability, changes, and discontinuation#

The Services are provided on an "as available" basis. We may, at our sole discretion and at any time:

• modify, add, remove, or limit features of the app, website, or related services;
• change pricing, plans, or the third-party services we use to power translations;
• suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these terms or whose use, in our judgement, creates risk for us, other users, or third-party providers;
• discontinue the Services entirely, in whole or in part, with or without notice.

We are not liable for any loss arising from changes to, unavailability of, or discontinuation of the Services. Because your .xcstrings files live in your own repository, your translations are not lost if the app stops working — they remain in your project.

Support#

Technical support is provided on a best-effort basis by email to active subscribers. We do not guarantee response times or resolution of any specific issue.

No warranty#

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that AI translations will be complete, accurate, or suitable for any particular use.

Limitation of liability#

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pixby Media AB and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Services — including losses caused by AI translation output, third-party provider behaviour, service interruptions, suspension or termination of access, or discontinuation of the Services. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us (through Apple, net of Apple's share) in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

Indemnification#

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pixby Media AB from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your content, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

Termination#

You may stop using the Services and cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the Services. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.

Apple-specific terms#

You acknowledge that these terms are between you and Pixby Media AB, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (where applicable). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law#

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of Sweden, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence requires otherwise.

Changes#

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Services or to comply with the law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last revised.
